Soccer Girl
Sidney has LOVED playing soccer this season. She says she wants to play soccer forever! She especially loves playing the mid-fielder position because she gets to run all over the field and boy is she fast! She also likes playing forward and is still hoping for her chance to score a goal this season, she has come really close a couple of times. She tolerates playing defender and really doesn't like playing goalie. Here are some of her goalie faces:
By George, He is still Alive!
Meet George:
He is the big plant in the middle of this planter, the one with the big leaves.
He was a present from my sister for my birthday back in May. I think she gave him to me as a little bit of a joke, because she and Brent are convinced that I cannot keep a house plant alive. Well, I am here to prove them wrong! George is thriving and loving his home on my kitchen window sill!!
The tall plant on the far end of the planter and the purple vine plant on the front end of this planter were from Sidney's first grade class. She started them as cuts from a plant in plastic cup with water in it. Once they formed roots she planted them in a second plastic cup with some healthy soil, watched them grow under the grow lamp and brought them home before the end of the school year. They are so large/long now and add a great bit of color to George's home.
As a side note, James brought home the same plants from his first grade class. But instead of carrying them carefully, he escorted them home in his backpack and they did not survive the trip!! The cute purple tulip in these pictures was from James, a wood cutout meant to add a special touch to a planter. It was my present from him on Mother's day and I think of him every time I see it!
These beautiful ivy plants were purchased with a gift card from some dear friends...also on my birthday. They are also thriving and I love them!

Cousins at Play
I found these pictures on my camera...I was not home at the time, but Grandma assures me that the kids had quite an imaginative game going on! It was complete with bikes, helmets, parking spaces and costumes. I am amazed at the kids' creativity and ingenuity...not to mention their ability to organize themselves and cooperate. Gotta love cousins!!!

A Second Big Change
These two adorable children have left our home.
They have moved back to Chicago to live with their Dad
and we are very excited for them.
But, we all miss them very much.
I miss seeing the legos all over Riley's floor,
I miss Hanah holding on to my hair,
I miss running Hanah to the potty,
I miss tucking James into bed about 7 times each night,
we miss the extra noise and
we miss their smiles and love most of all!!

Chutes and Ladders
Finally a perfect warm summer day! We took advantage of the sunshine by visiting one of our favorite parks in the twin cities, Chutes and Ladders. The kids loved running around in their swimsuits and played hard!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Jamie made her very first batch of chocolate chip cookies all by herself. I had to leave the kitchen, so I wouldn't help, but Grandma did a great job overseeing the process. Jamie's cookies were wonderful and she is going to be a fabulous baker!

The Project with Many Pieces
Sidney came upstairs with a few puzzles the other day and I was quickly reminded that I had a little summer project for her. From the ages of 3-6, she was a puzzle freak...thus we have a ton of them. So, she and Grandma , with a little help from the other kids along the way, embarked on their puzzle project! They are putting together each puzzle to make sure all the pieces are there and if not, they are going in the trash. So far they have complete about 25 puzzles with about 20 more to go! At 25 cents per puzzle, she is getting rich!
Minnehaha Falls with our Grandparents
It was so fun to have our parents (grandparents) in town again this past weekend! We had a fun-filled afternoon at Minnehaha falls! We feasted on a yummy picnic, walked around the falls and then waited for 30 minutes for the chance to coast around the park on these:
Bed Time Excuses
James is the king of bed-time excuses and often comes down 4-5 times a night with another excuse about why he cannot fall asleep. A couple nights ago, he came down and said that the number one reason he could not fall asleep was because of the computer game he has been playing each day. He only gets to play for an hour each day, but 'Plants vs. Zombies' was keeping him awake. I quickly replied to him that I had an easy solution to that problem and that he would not be able to play the game anymore! He of course stated that he did not like that solution and went back to bed mumbling under his breath.
2 minutes later, he came back down stairs saying that he had tried very hard to fall asleep once again, but could not. The reason this time: he couldn't stop thinking about the jobs he would have to do in the morning. HMMM...very smart thinking, right. He was assuming that if he thought about something too much and it kept him awake at night, his Aunt Stacey would remedy the problem by taking away that worry. After laughing hysterically, I gave James a huge hug and assured him that he would still have jobs in the morning!
