Halloween Yummy Mummies
Sidney received one of these Yummy Mummy treats for her birthday and couldn't wait to make them. Thanks to Annika and Sister Dean for the idea! The girls did a great job and filled their Halloween afternoon. 
The Hunt
Riley and I had a wonderful opportunity to go hunting w/ my Dad, my three brothers (Mark, John and Nathan), my brother in law and his son (Kyle, Dylan) and Kyle's cousin (Brian). We spent three days and two cold nights hunting on Boulder Mountain in south central Utah. This was Riley's first hunt and he really enjoyed it. He especially loved driving Grandpa's four wheeler to collect firewood as well as tour around the area. We saw a lot of deer, more than 100 in total, and even saw a few small bucks (two-pointers). Despite not shooting a deer, we loved laughing around the fire, riding on beautiful trails and spending time w/ the each other...all told it was a hunt to remember. Thanks to Dad, Mark, John, Nate, Kyle, Dylan and Brian for such a great time. It was unbelievable!

This year we celebrated their birthdays with Donny, whose birthday is the same day as Brents, by having dinner at Red Robin. We had a great time opening presents and enjoying the evening out.

Gratitude
October started with the miraculous births of 3 brand new babies in our ward. They were all born within one week. It was a great time of reflection for me because I was quickly approaching the 8th birthday of my 'baby'! I spent many nights laying in bed wondering how 8 years had passed so quickly! But mostly, I paused many times through that week to thank my Father in Heaven for the miracle of modern medicine and the wonderful privilege of being a mother to 3 of His children.
I had the very special assignment of being the 'daddy backup' for Donny, if LeAnne was taken in for her c-section when he was working. Well as fate would have it, LeAnne started to have some complications when Donny was stranded in Mephis. I made an 11:00 trip to the hospital late that night and found LeAnne resting with monitors hooked up to keep on eye on her and the baby. The nurse assured us that all was well and that LeAnne needed to rest. She also said that I should stay, 'just in case'. After a restless hour, LeAnne and I both feel asleep about 1:00 and slept until the Doctor came in about 3:30. We found out that things were progressing very quickly and within one hour, we were both in the operating room awaiting the arrival of her tiny babe.
Zachary Paul Martin was born at 4:49 am on October 6th. He was a tiny 2 lbs 15 oz and the most precious thing I had ever seen. I had the amazing opportunity to be there to hold him as his mother saw and kissed him for the first time. Little Zachary is a fighter and a miracle. He is doing very well and his parents hope he will be home by the holidays. You can see more pictures of little Zac here.
Thanks Donny and LeAnne for letting me share in this momentous event in your lives. I know Zachary will be an amazing blessing in your lives and I can't wait to help spoil him!

Holiday Confusion!

Blessed by the words of the Prophet
Our family truly enjoyed being spirtually fed this weekend. The messages were strong and clear. They were a great reminder to us that we need to try harder, be better and carry on!
One of our favorite talks was given by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. He proclaimed the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon in a prophetic and powerful way. He said:
"For 179 years, this book has been examined and attacked, denied and deconstructed, targeted and torn apart like perhaps no other book in modern religious history -- perhaps like no other book in any religious history. And still it stands," Holland said. "If anyone is foolish enough or misled enough to reject 531 pages of a heretofore unknown text teeming with literary and Semitic complexity without honestly attempting to account for the origin of those pages ... such persons, elect or otherwise, have been deceived and, if they leave this church, they must do so by crawling over or around or under The Book of Mormon to make their exit."
We add our testimonies to his. We know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. We know that as disciples of Christ we must study it and live its true principles. We also know that Thomas S Monson is a prophet of God and are grateful for his wise counsel.

A Third Big Change!
With a little color on the walls and some new office furniture, we created the perfect working space for my New JOB! I had the opportunity to join an amazing company and work from home...the perfect senario. I made a quick jaunt to Utah for training the week before the kids started school and have now been working from home for about 3 weeks. I love it! The job is challenging, but provides me the flexibility to still take care of my family and my home. It has been an adjustment working again after 10 years, but we are adapting quickly.
My only problem is that this little office project has reminded me how much I love color on the walls and now I want to paint the whole house, but don't have the time :)!
